Halfprin low dose aspirin is available in two strengths — 81mg and 162mg. The tablets are enteric coated to help prevent stomach upset. Unlike baby aspirin, Halfprin was specifically developed to provide adult low strength aspirin therapy for heart attack prevention.
Halfprin 162 mg is the first and only aspirin product available in 162mg dosage. At least one comprehensive review of the clinical research suggests 162mg is the ideal dose for heart attack and stroke prevention. This dose appears to provide the broadest protection, with an improved safety profile verses regular aspirin. ABOUT HALFPRIN® 162
Halfprin 162 mg was developed as a result of physicians' prescribing habits, as they frequently advised patients to take half a regular aspirin or two baby aspirin tablets. At least one important research paper indicates it is the most appropriate dose for prevention of stroke and MI (1) And taking Halfprin 162 during a suspected heart attack can increase survival rate by 23%. (20) Additionally, clinical study data shows that the lowest effective dose of aspirin to prevent secondary heart attack or death is 160 mg per day. (1)
